What
Happened to Tax Exempt Law Office of . . . ?
On January 1, 2004, the law practice originated in 1988 as a solo
operation, Tax Exempt Law Office of Eve Rose Borenstein, LLC,
was merged into a newly-created law firm: Borenstein
and McVeigh Law Office LLC (
www.BAMlawoffice.com ). As its name reflects,
the firm has two partners: Minneapolis attorney Ellen McVeigh,
who practices primarily in the areas of corporate and employment
law with nonprofit organizations, and Eve Borenstein, whose
practice historically and at present focuses almost exclusively
on the tax issues and compliance mandates of tax-exempt organizations.
Ellen McVeigh brings into BAM law office a sizeable
practice that she built in her own name with nonprofits (as well
as with some small businesses) over the last 11 years, along with
her considerable talents and expertise in matters of "corporate
counsel" representation (i.e., assistance with contracts, employment,
governance issues, etc.) that were prior-honed at and through her
partnership in a Big Minneapolis firm. She also has an engaging
training style that is well-suited to training nonprofit organizations
on their legal matters. Eve and Ellen are both
experienced in lawyering on nonprofit governance matters as well
as in training fiduciaries on their responsibilities in this area.
The non-counsel teaching/speaking/writing consulting that Eve
Borenstein has long undertaken with professional societies and
through both nonprofit technical assistance groups and nonprofit
coalitions remains alive and well, and will continue residing at
Eve's "original" company. However, with this new bifurcation
in place, that company is no longer licensed to practice law and
thus has been renamed from Tax Exempt Law Office of Eve
Rose Borenstein, LLC, to Eve Rose Borenstein, LLC.
This latter company will maintain this www.taxexemptlaw.org
site as a place for information about our speaking and teaching
work, and also to be a resource linking to various public information
resource guides for the tax-exempt sector.
With all these transitions accomplished, Eve may be reached by
e-mail EITHER using
eve@taxexemptlaw.org or using eve@BAMlawoffice.com
(both reach the same mailbox). You should also note that both
companies, Borenstein and McVeigh Law Office LLC and
Eve Rose Borenstein, LLC, use the same mailing address
